Drohni, the robin - a quiet and mysterious bird, a happy loner, a thoughtful observer? Nobody know where exactly it lives. It visits the employees when they work in the garden and probably watches the visitors, too. You mostly find it all of a sudden, sitting in the dead hedge or in a blackberry bush. It always seems as it has been there a while and you just didn't notice.

Harald, the squirrel, loves to run up and down the trees and comes by frequently.

Apart from those, there are a lot of song birds and wild birds at Rietzer Berg. At the terrace south of the house is a feeding station that is especially well filled in winter. The ducks and sometimes donkeys take care of the seeds that the birds dropped while feeding. North of the house between the apple tree, the wedding flower bed and the terrace is a good place to watch the swiftly aproaching flocks and individual animals.

If you're lucky, you might spot one of the hedgehogs, lizards, racoons, martens or foxes that regularly visit the property.  

The red ant is an important partner in controlling the oak processionary moth. The stinging hairs that fall off their caterpillars create a strong itching that can be harmful for people and can even drive dear away from an area. The caterpillars also eat the oak leaves and harm the trees. Red ants considerably reduce the nests and caterpillars of the oak processionary moth and therefore contribute to a self-regulating forest garden.
